New MS pill approved for use in Northern Ireland

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) has confirmed that Aubagio (aka teriflunomide) should be prescribed by health and social care trusts in Northern Ireland as a ‘first line therapy’ for people with relapsing remitting MS.  Read more here.

MS could be detectable years before symptoms show

MULTIPLE Sclerosis (MS) may be detectable years before symptoms begin to manifest, a study has found.
An antibody found in the blood of people with MS may be present long before the onset of the disease and its symptoms, scientists revealed.
According to the research, to be presented at the American Academy of Neurology’s annual meeting in April, the discovery of the antibody means the potential prevention of symptoms.  Read on.
